KNIFE COLLECTOR UPDATE HISTORY
Update 1.0.1 01/2006
1. Added a "Sort" function on the "View All" screen.
Update 1.0.2 02/2006
1. Corrected three minor bugs which most users hadn't encountered. They all
depended on a sequence of events which were out of the ordinary usage of the
program..
Update 1.0.3 02/2006
1. Correct one small cosmetic problem. If the current knife (one displayed
on Current screen) has any pictures assigned to it (the box to the right of the
camera shows 1,2,3 or 4) and you click New to add a new knife, the number of
pictures is not reset to 0. This has no affect on the new knife you are entering
and when you click Update the box is reset to zero. This version resets the box
to zero when you click New.
2. Changes table maintenance. Now when you change any of the tables that change
is also made to any of the knife records in your database in which the old data
exactly matches the data in the knife record. For instance you realize you have
misspelled a handle material or a pattern name. When you correct this all
records in the database which had the misspelled word will be corrected also.
3. Added a ascending and descending button to the sort. I have also added a new
field to the sort box. You should see as the second item "Knife ID". This is the
five digit number that shows on the current screen and all printed reports. It
is a sequential number assigned when you entered the knife and appended to the
pattern number to form Knife Key. If you print a full inventory report while the
records are sorted in this sequence it will be printed from item one to the last
item you have entered.
Update 1.0.4 03/2006
1. Fixes a problem that occurs if you tried to enter a picture while in the
“add new” or edit mode.
2. The picture maintenance is smarter. You do not have to select a frame to add
a picture. The program selects the next empty frame. Also if there is only one
picture loaded you do not have to select it before clicking delete or enlarge.
3. Retains the sort sequence. If you sort the database by one of the fields this
sequence will be in effect until you sort again even when you Exit and return
later.
4. Adds a (start up) instruction screen to the program. You may check the box on
the bottom of the screen to stop this screen from showing.
Update 1.0.5 04/2006
1. Correct a problem that occurred when you tried to enter a picture on any
pattern which had ½ in the name.
2. The Manufacturer, Collection, Handle Material, and Pattern drop down boxes
have been made "semi-smart". If you enter the first letter of the item you want
the box will scroll down to the first entry starting with the letter you keyed.
For example if you want a “Yellow Bone” handle material enter a “Y” and the box
will scroll to the first handle material starting with “Y”. If you want the
“Peanut” pattern key a “p” and the pattern box will scroll down to the first
entry starting with a “P”. The letter entered may be in upper case or lower
case. The search is not case sensitive.
3. When you click on Supplier name you will see a drop down box containing the
name of all the Suppliers you have previously entered. This drop down box is
also semi-smart. You may select one of these and all the supplier data fields
(name, phone number, address, and fax number) will automatically be filled in
from the data you previously entered. If you are entering a new supplier when
you leave the supplier name field the drop down box will disappear.
Update 1.0.6 06/2006
(Current Release)
1. If the “Sold” option is selected you now get a pop-up box which
allows you to select which category of knives to load. You may load 1)All sold ,
traded, and gifted knives, 2)sold knives only, 3)traded knives only or 4)gifted
knives only. The totals on the bottom of the Total tab will now show totals for
all three categories regardless or which option you select.
2. Added a new Manufacturer option which allows you to select a manufacturer
from the manufacturer drop down box. Only knives for the selected manufacturer
will be loaded. The Collection, Pattern, and Sold options will then display
knives only from the selected manufacturer.
3. When a Collection. Pattern, or Sold option is selected a new option appears
called “Cancel”. The Cancel option will allow you to cancel the Collection,
Pattern, or Sold option currently selected, and return to the previous status.
4. When you select the “Print All” option from the Print drop down box you will
then see a drop down box which will allowed you to select a sequence for the
report to be printed.
5. The total screen now shows your inventory totals broken down by manufacturer,
and totals for the Collections of all the knives loaded.. The inventory totals
do not include any knives in the Sold, On Order, or Wish List Collections since
these knives are not part of your inventory.
6. When you select a picture to add to a knife you will now see a preview of
that picture. You can then click OK to load the picture or Cancel to ignore the
picture and continue searching your pictures.
7. If you select a Collection which results in the pattern being loaded
(Collection exactly matches a Pattern) you may click on the pattern text box and
the drop down box will open with the cursor located at the selected pattern.
This is good where you have more than one entry with the same pattern. For
example patterns of “Peanut:”, “Peanut – one blade” and “Peanut – five blades”
where 20 is the pattern on all three.
8. You may now change the Pattern number on a knife.
9. The “Print Current Record” will now print the first two pictures on the
report if they are present.
10. There is now a “Print” button on the “Total” tab. This button will print a
summary of Manufacturer and Collection totals as they appear on the screen.
11. There is now a clock on the current screen. It has no purpose except I got
tired of looking at the empty space and no one would suggest a good use for it,
so I thought I would give all you clock watchers something to watch.
Most of these fixes or changes have come from alerts or suggestions by users and
we would like to hear from you if you have any problems or any suggestions you
think would improve the program. We are also updating the FAQ on the web site
often.
